If someone who would have previously hit a level of incompetence they can now raise that level with the help of AI. Many people think that Artificial Intelligence will up-end the Peter-Principle since the level of incompetence will now be raised. They will then remain in those positions because they do not demonstrate any further competence that would get them recognized for additional promotion. The Peter Principle is therefore based on the idea that competent employees will continue to be promoted, but at some point will be promoted into positions for which they are incompetent. By being incompetent, the individual will not qualify for promotion again, and so will remain stuck at that final level.
